Advanced Training
Potential management candidates in the individual outlet chains are qualified at the Metro Academy, the flagship of our various programs. The individual modules last eight months. During this period, each participant has a manager as his or her mentor.
Change management, trade marketing, logistics, e-commerce, corporate fusions – these are only a few of the subjects taught by the professors of the famed French Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires (INSEAD) (
www.insead.edu), the largest European business school for corporate management. This program emphasizes the practical side: Participants work with outside specialists on case studies and discuss business strategy with managers from the individual outlet chains.
The Corporate Seminar is directed toward newly appointed colleagues in second-tier managerial positions, that is, the next level of responsibility after the board of directors of the METRO AG and the management of the outlet chains and large cross-division service companies. Here they will learn everything about corporate business policy: Strategy, instruments, intercultural competence, as well as physical fitness on the job are the subjects covered in a compact program for approximately 80 employees per year.
In the one-year Metro Management Development Program, young management is trained in core competencies. In six modules of three days each, the participants from every outlet chain form teams and process specific projects that must stand the test of real life.
The Metro Business Program is designed for college graduates who have been employed by the company for two or three years. In three blocks spread over 6 months, 25 participants will gain detailed knowledge about the Metro Group and expertise in international trade. The courses are held in conjunction with experts from the Otto Beisheim Graduate School of Management (WHU)

In addition to management opportunities, there is an open continuing education program for all levels. It offers courses on core competencies as well as management, assistance and job techniques. In addition, international management courses in English round out the program.
