Walter Weber Praktiker AG's new chairman

Walter Weber (49) will succed Dr. Fredy Raas (42) as chairman of the administration department of Praktiker Bau- und Heimwerkermärkte AG from August, 1st, 2001 on.

Up until now, Weber has held the position of chairman of the board of directors at the logistics provider Denkhaus AG, Koblenz. Zygmunt Mierdorf, board of METRO AG and chairman of the board of directors at Praktiker AG: "We are glad to have won such an experienced manager and trade expert as Mr. Weber for the chairmanship of Praktiker AG. We would like to thank Dr. Raas for his valuable cooperation in developing the new strategic orientation of the construction market and wish him success in his new tasks." As announced, Dr. Raas will leave the enterprise at the end of April, when his contract is due to expire.
