METRO ONLINE and Kaufhof Department Stores launch online portal Zebralino
After only seven months development phase for the extensive technical platform and an investment of DM 4 million, the online-portal Zebralino will be launched at www.zebralino.de on 4 September 2000. The target group is boys and girls of ages up to 12 years, as well as their parents.
Further shops can easily be added to the portal. The newly founded Zebralino GmbH, Cologne, will manage the day-to-day operations of the portal. The partners are METRO ONLINE AG, Düsseldorf, and Kaufhof Warenhaus AG, Cologne.
The comprehensive assortment of toys, children’s wear and other target group-related articles, such as school supplies, is based on the high quality brand concept of Galeria Kaufhof and will take advantage of their high brand recognition in terms of advertising. Merchandise logistics are based on that of Kaufhof Warenhaus AG. Zebralino has experienced partners for cash clearing and distribution. Delivery will be within 48 hours and is, as a special service on the occasion of the launch, free-of-charge.
The internet portal Zebralino complements the stationary Galeria department stores and is closely linked with them. As an example, each Kaufhof branch will exchange merchandise ordered online upon submission of the purchase receipt. Like all Kaufhof branches, Zebralino also participates in the cross-divisional customer loyalty program Payback.
METRO ONLINE AG develops and coordinates all e-commerce activities for the METRO AG Group. METRO ONLINE AG is a new sales division, the fifth alongside the other four divisions of wholesale, food retail, specialty stores and department stores.
