Meeting Metro – Event 2008
13th November 2008
Mannheim, Maimarkthalle
One umbrella group, four sales divisions and various cross-divisional service companies, over 290,000 employees and stores in thirtyone countries: This is Metro.
Through our annual open day, "Meeting Metro – Event 2008" we wish to introduce ourselves and establish contacts with students doing economics and those interested in the retail sector.
You may be thinking that this sounds stressful. Should I make a quick trip to the hairdresser or borrow a tie from a mate? I’ll have to get my CV updated. No doubt it will be just another student congress. Relax: "Meeting Metro" is not a recruitment campaign and you’ll see that this open day is different from the rest.
In past years our open day has taken place in Duesseldorf, Duisburg, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Berlin. This year "Meeting Metro – Event 2008" will take place in Mannheim and is aimed at students from western Germany. Further regions will follow.
Our intention is to introduce participants to our business, the exciting world of retail, and the great opportunities that an international company like Metro can offer. This will be achieved through informal talks and engaging demonstrations in a relaxed atmosphere.
You will also learn more about the company and the sales brands, which you have more than likely heard of but may not associate with METRO Group, such as Metro Cash & Carry, real,-, Media Markt and Saturn, and Galeria Kaufhof, as well as our cross-divisional service companies that perform central functions such as logistics, purchasing, data processing and asset management for the whole group. At the event you will be able get up close and personal with the various aspects of our business.
"Meeting Metro – Event 2008" is mainly aimed at students and graduates who are currently enrolled in, or have completed, a business-related subject. Preferably, this will be a degree in business studies, economics, business sciences, business informatics, construction engineering, architecture, or another economics- or retail-related subject.
We look forward to meeting you. Come and see the diversity that the METRO Group has to offer.
What can you expect to gain from this event? This is an opportunity for students to make personal contacts at Metro and participants who want a taste of the trade could even swing an internship within the company!
Metro’s annual open day is an opportunity for us to talk, share information and to get to know each other. It is not about never-ending lectures and a mad rush through our programme of events. That’s why we are organising a different kind of introductory speech and an unconventional forum of stalls and events, which participants can browse in their own time. There will be plenty of food and drink and, come evening, our organisers will create the perfect party atmosphere to wind the day to a close.
