Before, he was appointed successor to the preceding chairman of the Supervisory Board, Mr. Günther Hülse (61).
Günther Hülse resigned from office for personal reasons at the close of 3 June 2004. As chairman of the Board of Directors of Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH, he was a member and the chairman of the Supervisory Board of METRO Group since 22 May 2003. "Thanks to his entrepreneurial experience and comprehensive expertise, Günther Hülse has made a significant contribution to the progress and advance of the METRO Group’s internationalization strategy. Our candid and constructive talks were inspired by our joint vision of the development of METRO Group", said Dr. Hans-Joachim Körber, Chairman of the Management Board of METRO Group. "His resignation has left a sensible personal void. METRO Group owes a debt of gratitude to Günther Hülse."
