Wolfgang Kraus, Vice Chairman of the Management Board of Kaufhof Warenhaus AG, retires

Effective 30 June 2004 Wolfgang Kraus (60) will leave the management board of Kaufhof Warenhaus AG at his own request and line with his personal scheme of life.

"For 40 years Wolfgang Kraus has decisively contributed to shaping the development of Horten and Kaufhof, of which ten years on the management board of Kaufhof Warenhaus AG. He developed the successful Galeria concept. With this concept, Wolfgang Kraus made a decisive contribution to the modern and successful image of Kaufhof Warenhaus AG", explained Dr. Hans-Joachim Körber, CEO of the METRO Group and chairman of the supervisory board of Kaufhof Warenhaus AG. On account of a consultancy agreement as well as his supervisory board functions Wolfgang Kraus will remain associated with the company also after his departure.

Wolfgang Kraus started working for Horten AG in 1965, first in the central purchasing function. After the merger of Horten AG and Kaufhof Warenhaus AG, Wolfgang Kraus in January 1995 changed to the Management Board of Kaufhof Warenhaus AG where he was responsible for purchasing, advertising, marketing and market analysis. In 1997, he additionally took over the position as Vice Chairman of the Management Board. Since June 2001, Wolfgang Kraus has also been a member of the supervisory board of Kaufhof’s Belgian subsidiary Inno S.A.
