Changes on the Board of Management of METRO AG

• Frans Muller appointed new member of the Board of Management
• Contract of CFO Thomas Unger prolonged
• Stefan Feuerstein leaves the METRO Group
• Andreas Riedel new Chairman of the Board of Management of Real

The Supervisory Board of METRO AG in today’s meeting appointed Frans Muller as new member of the Board of Management. He will succeed Stefan Feuerstein, who will leave the METRO Group by amicable agreement. The contract of CFO Thomas Unger was prolonged at its regular turn. Andreas Riedel will be new Chairman of the Board of Management of the sales division Real.

Frans Muller (45) up to now served as Chairman of the Board of Management of METRO Group Buying International and General Manager of METRO AG. On the Board of Management of METRO AG he will be responsible for international purchasing, advertising, the restaurant and catering operator Dinea and in the future for logistics. Mr. Muller joined METRO Group nine years ago and held various international management positions at Metro Cash & Carry. With his long and extensive experience he will decisively contribute to advancing the internationalization of the METRO Group.

Stefan Feuerstein (50) leaves the METRO Group by amicable agreement. He joined the company eight years ago and has served on the Board of Management of METRO AG since early 2003. Among others, he was responsible for the group’s purchasing activities and last for the repositioning of the sales division Real. The Supervisory Board thanked Mr. Feuerstein for his long service for the METRO Group. He had made a significant contribution to the group’s development in an important phase.

The contract of Thomas Unger (45) was prolonged by five years until 2012 at its regular turn. He has served on the Board of Management of METRO AG since 2002 being responsible for Corporate Finance, Corporate Accounting and Balances, Controlling, Tax Department and Insurance.

Andreas Riedel (47) was appointed new Chairman of the Board of Management of the sales division Real. Aged 47, he last held the position of Managing Director of the T-Punkt sales division of Deutsche Telekom and will in future focus on advancing the repositioning of METRO Group’s German food retailing activities.

The performance capability of the METRO Group is based on the strength of its sales brands, which are acting independently in the market: Metro/Makro Cash & Carry – world market leader in self-service wholesale, Real hypermarkets and Extra supermarkets, Media Markt and Saturn – market leader in European consumer electronics centers – and Galeria Kaufhof department stores.
