The METRO Group Marathon in Düsseldorf next Sunday will not only be a top event from the athletic point of view. This year, METRO Group is using this sports event to draw the public’s attention to the initiative "Gut für Dich" ("Good for You"). This initiative, which was launched only a few weeks ago, wants to enthuse people for a healthy lifestyle, a balanced diet and lots of exercise through a large number of activities.

This is already the third consecutive year in which METRO Group acts as the main and name sponsor of the Düsseldorf Marathon. As a prominent partner of the initiative "Gut für Dich" ("Good for You"), successful coach Joachim Löw this year for the first time participates in the METRO Group Marathon and runs in the retail group’s top relay team over a distance of around 10 kilometers. Together with Hans-Joachim Körber, CEO of the METRO Group, Löw will also fire the starting gun for the roughly 10,000 runners. With his participation, the coach underscores the importance he attaches to the objectives of the initiative.

"Joachim Löw is a role model for discipline, determination, endurance and perseverance", said Petra Rob, Head of Corporate Communications of the METRO Group. "These are properties that are decisive to reach the finish line in a marathon but are also required when opting for a healthy lifestyle."

Under the umbrella of the initiative "Gut für Dich" ("Good for You") the METRO Group bundles all its activities in the field of nutrition and exercise. In addition to sponsoring sports events like the METRO Group Marathon, this also includes health-oriented assortments, a new nutritional value labeling system for private label products and the comprehensive Internet portal Link to external page:www.gut-fuer-dich.info.
