What are feeds?

Feeds were developed to allow for a simple exchange of news and other web content. Various free and commercially available programs called feedreaders are available to read the feeds. The most popular feedreader programs are "RSSReader" and the English "FeedReader". For a detailed overview (in German) of the latest RSS-Reader, please refer to Link to external page:www.rss-verzeichnis.de *.

Which technical formats are available?

The most common formats are the RSS feed formats. The acronym RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication". In addition, recently also a new format called "Atom" was introduced. Atom is considered to be the successor of RSS. Atom is to combine the advantages of the different RSS formats to one new format.

How to subscribe to a feed?

As soon as you have opted for a software program and installed it, you can subscribe to the feeds. Each feed has a separate address, similar to that of a website. You can conveniently enter this address in the feedreader program: Just click with the right mouse key on the symbol of the desired feed. In the selection that opens, simply tick "copy link" on the Internet Explorer and in the Mozilla Firefox click on "copy link address". In the feed reader, enter this address at the corresponding point by actuating the key combination Ctrl+V. Done! Now you have subscribed to the feed and it is shown in the overview.
