Media Markt celebrates premiere in Turkey25.09.2007
On Tuesday, Media Markt, market leader in consumer electronics centers in Europe, opened its first Turkish store in Istanbul. Following Metro Cash & Carry and Real, Media Markt is now the third sales brand of the METRO Group operating on the Bosporus. The new consumer electronics center in Istanbul is set up in the "M1 Meydan" Shopping Square. This shopping mall located in the city district of Ümraniye, combines extraordinary architecture with innovative technology and was opened by METRO Group Asset Management in August this year. The Media Markt store has a selling space of around 3,000 square meters and offers a product assortment featuring more than 50,000 different items. By the end of the year, Media Markt plans to extend its local store network by two more locations, including one in the capital Ankara.
With the sales brands Metro Cash & Carry and Real, METRO Group has been successfully operating in Turkey for many years already. Also for Media Markt, this country offers great opportunities for dynamic growth. The sales brands Media Markt and Saturn are now represented in 15 countries and operate nearly 700 consumer electronics centers throughout Europe. The latest market entries were Russia and Sweden.
