METRO Group presents children’s cookbook

Healthy nutrition made easy

• Cookbook "Ich koch mir was!" explains balanced diet
• More than 40 home-cooking recipes for children
• Revenues donated to German Food Bank

Starting from today, the new children’s cookbook "Ich koch mir was!" [I cook myself something] of the METRO Group is available in all German Real and Metro Cash & Carry stores. It features more than 40 recipes and in a playful manner communicates the basic principles of a balanced diet. The complete revenues are donated to the German Food Bank Federation [Bundesverband Deutsche Tafel].

From coalfish with honey sauce to the vitamin power shake – "Ich koch mir was!" contains more than 40 ideas for home cooking. The children’s cookbook is published by the METRO Group, who is actively promoting stronger health awareness and more exercise with its "Gut für Dich" [Good for You] initiative. It wants to enthuse children early on for a balanced diet and in addition also shows that healthy food is not only tasty but also fun. The children’s cookbook offers many pictures and numerous scented fields, e.g. of spices. Four small test chefs take the reader through the proposed recipes.

"Ich koch mir was!" is now available throughout Germany in all stores of the METRO Group sales brands Real and Metro Cash & Carry. The entire revenues of € 9.99 are donated to the German Food Bank Federation. This charity organization supports people in need with food donations. Many children also receive a hot and healthy meal this way. For several years now, METRO Group has been donating food to this charity and since 2006 is also sponsor of the German Food Bank Federation. The rising number of people in need in Germany urgently calls for long-term support. "The Food Bank organization needs sponsors like the METRO Group. We are pleased about the financial support from this wonderful fund-raising campaign", said Gerd Häuser, Chairman of the German Food Bank Federation [Bundesverband Deutsche Tafel].

More information about the children’s cookbook such as photographs and a "making of film" are available on the Internet at the website Link to external page:www.kikobu.de.

Everyone donates what he can ...

The more than 700 Tafel organizations collect qualitatively acceptable foods that can no longer be used in retailing. Around 32,000 volunteers distribute them for free or against a symbolic contribution to around 700,000 people in need, including 25 % children.
